You really need to check out the Amish Store when you're in Calera; it’s a bakery that consistently earns its 4.8-star rating. It's a no-frills kind of place, but the aroma of fresh-baked goods hits you as soon as you open the door, a comforting mix of cinnamon and yeast. They're famous for their fried pies, particularly the apple and cherry, which have a perfectly flaky crust and generous, warm filling – get there early on a Saturday if you want a full selection before they sell out. Weekday mornings are a bit calmer, ideal for grabbing a coffee and one of their enormous cinnamon rolls, perfect for sharing or savoring solo. Parking is usually easy right out front, and while it can get a bit busy mid-morning on weekends, the line moves pretty quickly as most folks are just grabbing their treats to go.
