You really need to check out Chef Truck. It's not a truck at all, but a fantastic brick-and-mortar spot on South Lamar, known for its incredible modern American cuisine with a Southern twist. They have a lovely shaded patio with strung lights that makes for a perfect evening out, especially since the indoor seating is pretty limited. Definitely aim for an early dinner or a late lunch if you want to snag a spot without a wait, as it gets packed quickly, particularly on weekends. Their fried chicken sandwich with the spicy honey is legendary, and their seasonal vegetable dishes are always fresh and creative. Parking can be a bit tricky on Lamar, so consider ridesharing or look for street parking a block or two away. It’s a great choice for a relaxed date night or a casual dinner with friends.
