The Vibe
So, if you're looking for a chill spot downtown, Ferris Plaza is a solid pick. It's a pretty open, green space, right across from Union Station, which is cool for people-watching with all the DART and TRE commuters. I always find it's best in the late afternoon, especially on a weekday, when you can grab one of the benches under the mature trees and just unwind. It gets a nice mix of office workers on their lunch breaks and folks waiting for trains, but it never feels overly crowded. They do have some cool public art installations scattered around, and the views of the downtown skyline are actually pretty decent, making it a surprisingly good spot for a quiet moment or just to read a book. Parking can be a bit tricky right there, so I usually just walk over from whatever garage I'm using for other downtown errands.
